Over 210 journalists killed in Gaza: RSF and Avaaz call on media worldwide to stage major operation on 1 September

Over 150 media outlets from over 50 countries are preparing for a major media campaign on 1 September, coordinated by Reporters Without Borders (RSF) and the global campaigning movement Avaaz. These newsrooms, RSF and Avaaz condemn the crimes against Palestinian reporters perpetrated with impunity by the Israeli army, call for the protection and emergency evacuation of Gaza’s journalists and demand that foreign press be given independent access to the Gaza Strip.
The media operation is scheduled for Monday, 1 September, swiftly following the latest deadly strikes by the Israeli army against journalists in the Gaza Strip. On 25 August, one of these strikes targeted a building in the al-Nasser medical complex in central Gaza, a known workplace for reporters, killing five journalists and staff members of local and international media outlets such as Reuters and the Associated Press. Two weeks earlier, on the night of 10 August, an Israeli strike killed six reporters, including Al Jazeera correspondent Anas al-Sharif, who was the intended target.
