Vote: rules for the elections for the European Parliament

On June 6, 2024, the elections for the European Parliament will take place. You can only vote if you have Dutch nationality or the nationality of another country within the European Union (EU).

Other Nationality

You may choose in which EU country you want to vote, either in the Netherlands or in the EU country of your nationality. If you choose to vote in the Netherlands, you will be voting for the Dutch members of the European Parliament.

One-time Registration

Are you an EU citizen residing in the Netherlands but not holding Dutch nationality? If you wish to vote in the Netherlands, you need to complete a Y-32 form in advance. This form serves as a one-time registration with your municipality.

By submitting the Y-32 form, you declare that you will not vote in another country as well. Additionally, you confirm with this form that you are not excluded from voting rights.

If you have Dutch nationality and live in the Netherlands, you do not need to fill out a form.

What Do You Need to Do?

You don’t need to take any action at the moment.

Between March 5, 2024, and no later than March 9, 2024, the municipality of Rotterdam will send you the form along with a covering letter and a reply envelope. We also provide the option to submit the form digitally, as outlined in the letter.

If you are eligible to vote, you will receive a voting pass from the municipality in May 2024. With your voting pass, you can participate in the European Parliament elections.
